With around 20,000 students, Paderborn University focuses on excellent, international and interdisciplinary research. The teaching and research profile encompasses a broad spectrum of subjects from cultural and social sciences, economics, natural sciences and engineering. Teacher training in all these areas plays an important role. Among other things, the university has established itself in profile areas with internationally recognized cutting-edge research. These include in particular Intelligent Technical Systems, Lightweight Design with Hybrid Systems, Transformation and Education, Optoelectronics and Photonics and Digital Humanities. A special focus is on technology transfer and networking with industry, other universities and research networks, which means excellent career opportunities for graduates.

The Paderborn University is part of DataSkop, one of the 10 funded projects of the research program "Human-Technology Interaction for Digital Sovereignty".
