WerteRadar – Donating health data with sovereignty
The administrative admission of patients in a clinical context often takes place under great time pressure. In such a situation, patients are not sufficiently informed about the consequences of their data transfer and are therefore not able to make informed and reflected decisions. This situation serves as a starting point for redesigning an informed decision process for patients by considering data privacy.
The research project WerteRadar focuses on the complex interaction of pedagogical and social enlightenment from the perspective of patients, the reflected communication of data privacy as well as personal sovereignty in dealing with sensitive data. WerteRadar represents a dialogical format with regard to existing individual values. This approach should allow patients to handle personal data in a self-determined and reflective manner, create the necessary psychological freedom and enable them to make an informed decision regarding their data donation. As integrative and interactive software, WerteRadar is to be designed, evaluated and implemented in practice for the reflected donation of health data.
In order to achieve the research goal, participatory design methods are used to consciously support patients in the reflected and informed transfer of data. An exemplary implementation is achieved by transforming the project into a marketable product within the heartbeat ONE platform. In addition, WerteRadar offers the possibility of transfer outside the health sector in order to redesign current consent forms.
